US OR UK?

So...I've read in a few different posts that people have gotten married in the US then the DH/DW goes back to England and then you file for a visa...

I'm wondering how you go about getting married when you only come over for a visit?...Is it really as easy as seeing one another, getting a marriage license and saying I DO? 

I've heard it's cheaper and easier to get married in the US than in the UK...

it's cheaper to get married in the US from a visa perspective.  this is becuse the visa applicant only needs a spousal visa.  if you get married in the UK they first need a fiance visa then a spousal visa.

are you asking about visa fees or general cost of wedding fees? 

It is easier to marry in the US then apply for the visa from the British Consulate in the US.

Visa fees...I'm guessing even wedding fees might be cheaper here too

It depends on who you want to attend your wedding and so forth.  Some people have had a wedding in the States, then a reception in the UK.

from a visa standpoint its easier, and cheaper. But theres also the flights, accomodation etc.

The wedding could be cheaper depending on how you are paying,  £s or $s. Obviously if your money were all in  £s and youre doing it in the US it is cheaper.
The only thing I dont like is having to pay for a venue whereas its easy to find places you dont have to pay for in the US (yes I do realize there are plenty you pay for as well!)

Im hoping to help save some money to get as much from the US to bring over to the UK for the wedding as possible, we are making it super low-key now.

We were thinking of having the reception later too, so my parents can see the baby..so it will be a wedding reception/welcoming baby home thing.

Oh I dunno...I was just curious. I'm not engaged nor getting married...I had just read a few things where people were talkin about it being cheaper.
