coffee makers and blenders
« on: March 27, 2006, 01:29:06 PM »
I need to buy a blender.  I miss my smoothies every morning.  Does  anyone have a good blender that they like?

Also, in my quest for the perfect cup of coffee, I'm looking for a drip coffee maker. Our coffee grinder gave it up yesterday and we are using this as an excuse to buy a new grinder and coffee maker (hate the one we have).  Found a braun grinder on amazon which is the same kind we had for years in N.A. but I'm at a loss for coffee makers.  Any ideas?

Our coffee maker is a Russell Hobbs and it's excellent - a real work horse.... It's brushed steel - even the carafe - which keeps the coffee hot for a really long time. And, touch wood, as long as we descale it about once every 4 months or so it keeps on ticking even though we use it a minimum of once a day. Can't remember where it came from - I find Amazon's selection isn't that good on kitchen appliances. I'd try Comet or Dixons or something if I were you!  :)

YES!!! I just got a gorgeous bright red KitchenAid blender for my birthday last week! It makes the most incredible smoothies. My previous blender was a crappy plastic one and couldn't hold a candle to the new one. It crushes ice like nobody's business! ;D

I have a Bosch coffee maker.  Makes coffee in a carafe and has a timer.  It wasn't cheap, but it's been a good product.

For a blender, I have the Breville Classique.  It wasn't cheap either, but the jug is thick glass and the motor is most capable of crushing ice.  We use it for smoothies all the time.

I have the blue one, works great.  For coffee, I either use a coffee press or my Senseo. (So not much help there I guess ;))
