How long for blood results?
« on: April 05, 2006, 07:25:05 PM »
We had my pets' blood drawn two and a half weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet.  I called the vet's office today and they said that it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get results!  Is that right?  I went to the KSU Rabies Lab website and they said that you should expect your results in 3 weeks.

Also, I'm assuming that they'll go back to the vet's office - they don't send the results to your home, do they?

Thanks.

Carrie

You should have to wait 30 days for the result.  And they should also arrive at your vets office.

It was about three weeks for mine and they get sent directly to your vet.  You will want the original copy of the results for your trip.

Mine was about 3 weeks too.  Sent to the vet's office.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Thanks everyone - I sort of lost it after I put the phone down this afternoon.  I can't wait another 6 weeks for results!

I have to go in to get some heartworm pills in a week and half - I'll ask again then if they haven't called me yet.

Carrie, the good news is your 6 months on the blood test is calculated from the time the sample arrives at the lab.  It does not start when the vet gets the results.  So as long as they pass the 6-8 week results will not delay them into the U.K.   ;D

I got a photocopy of the results on Thursday - they all passed with high antibody levels!  So we are clear to leave after September 17th.

It took us about a month to get our results for Phee and Leia back.
