Airport change
« on: April 19, 2006, 01:39:56 AM »
Hello everyone,

This may be a silly question, but I haven't done this before, nor my boyfriend. He is travelling to Mexico on May 3rd. He is travelling from London Gatwick to Atlanta, then from Atlanta to Houston and in Houston he has to change airport from Houston, TX Hobby to Houston Bush.

I have no idea how this works, he has like 3 hours to do it, does anyone know how this work?  ???

Thanks a lot!

Mysh

I'm from Houston....Bush and Hobby are quite a ways away from each other (I'd say a 40 minute drive.) A regular taxi will be expensive  :-\\\\ ...perhaps there are companies that transfer from one airport to the other?  I wouldn't rely on Houston's public transport, as it is complete shite, and three hours isn't that much to work with given the variance of airline schedules + bus schedules + the need to be at the airport ahead of time.   Sorry I can't be more helpful...

Wow, that will be a heck of a trip with all those changes. :o I live in Houston and I hate to sound pessimistic but I have to agree with everything amarylis said...it's not impossible but close to it. :-\\\\

What time of day will he be arriving in Houston? She was right when she said it's about a 40 minute drive (approx. 30 miles) or so between airports but that's if there's no traffic. Houston traffic is horrible at the best of times and during rush hour it's positively nightmarish.

I wouldn't suggest trying it by taxi (probably VERY expensive) or by bus (slow, with lots of changes). I found this site online for a shuttle service http://www.airportexpresshouston.com/fares.html It says it's $24.00 to go from Hobby to Bush. That's not too bad. The only thing you'll have to worry about is having enough time.

Good luck. I hope it all works out. :)

Why can't he fly to Mexico from Atlanta?--he would stay "in transit" and it would be a lot easier instead of those kind of connections.

Amarylis, Melissa: Thank you very much for your replies. Matt will be arriving in Hobby at 3:45pm and his fligh to Merida departs from Bush at 7:15 pm. It seems it's going to be a real nightmare  :o
I had a look on the link and it says there's a shuttle at 4:30 and it should be arriving at Bush at  5:40pm. Scary  :-\\\\

I'm not sure, when he booked his ticket from Merida to London it was a dream, it usually takes 17 hrs. to get to London because we have to change flights in Mexico City and then in Paris or Frankfurt, so, i guess when he saw it would take just 12hrs. Merida-Atlanta-London he just booked the ticket and didn't think too much on the return flight  ::)

Thank you very much again  :)
