Children Now Travel Free in London
« on: April 10, 2006, 08:44:42 AM »
We had a lovely day out yesterday, made even nicer by the fact that children under 11 can now travel free on the tube and buses during off peak hours.  The guards were all freindly and she was let through the gates without any problems.   :)

Under-11s FAQs

Under-11s travelling free with an adult must not use their Child Oyster photocard
Under-11s can travel free at any time on buses and trams. They can also travel free during off-peak hours on the Tube and DLR when they are travelling with an adult who has a valid ticket, are using Oyster to pay as they go or has a Freedom Pass:

From 0930 Monday to Friday
All day at weekends and on public holidays
Under-11s travelling with an adult will not be issued with tickets and will be allowed to pass through the ticket gates at stations. Please note, if an under-11 has a Child Oyster photocard and is travelling free with an adult during off-peak hours they should not use it. If they do, they will be charged a fare.

Accompanying adults can take up to four children under the age of 11 years old for free on the Tube and DLR during off-peak hours.

Under-11s travelling before 0930 on weekdays or without an adult will need to pay the appropriate fare or use a Child Oyster photocard to pay as they go.
