Can you get US Digital TV in the UK?
« on: March 29, 2006, 07:45:21 AM »
It's just a thought....my British sister & brother in law were able to hook up Sky when they lived in France to forgo the French TV & I was wondering if it was possible to do the same here.  Also, would it be possible to have both Sky & the US version at the same time or is that just ridiculous?!

As far as the DirecTV service goes, I'm afraid you're out of luck.  The satellites which carry it are simply too far west to be "visible" above the horizon from the U.K.

Have a look at this thread for some more discussion on the subject, particularly from reply #18 onward:

If you have someone that can "host" this in the US for you, you can watch all of their US channels over the internet.  I have used it since August and watched all of the NFL football games and my favorite tv shows.  It works best if your host can provide you access to a DVR.

It is simple to set up and there are no subscription costs.  Just the initial $250.
