Best Yoga/workout DVD's?
« on: January 01, 2004, 04:32:29 AM »
Hi everyone,

Well its still a couple of hours until 2004 over here and as I scour ebay looking for decent DVD's, to help achieve that New Years goal that *everyone ;)* has, I am a little dumbfounded.

A little about what I am/need:
*I am not very flexible but might be able to keep up with the pause button on the remote.
*I love bellydance, but aren't so sure of the "Veena & Neena" seris as I heard some of the tapes aren't worth it if you actually want to learn bellydance---suggest any alternatives?
*I have done a lot of yoga--my problem is that I can't really settle on a decent routine....soooo busy with school! I am in search of a yoga DVD that is challenging and will burn the calories but doesn't expect that one can bend themselves into crazy positions. I really like the "Iyengar" and "Kundalini styles of Yoga---any suggestions?
*Lastly: I find Arobics/dance to be a little difficult and kind of old fashioned...hehe and if I bounce enough I might hurt myself ;) But if you know of any good ones...let me know!

cheers and good luck everyone with those crazy resolutions!

Samantha***

Hi Samantha
does it have to be only yoga, or would you like to mix in some other stuff? Do you have a half hour a day to work out?

Hi Missy,

No, it definately doesn't have to be just yoga. Hehehe I would say between my classes, work [smiley=juggle.gif] and my refugees I got about an hour a day to spare ;)

cheers,

Samantha*** :)

Cool - then check out www.beachbody.com. They have (all great by the way) Power 1/2 hour, Power 90 and Slim in 6. Power 90 has yoga, resistance, cardio, etc., for about 35-45 minutes,  Power 1/2 hour is a mix of stuff for 1/2 per day, and Slim in 6 is AWESOME, but 45-60 minutes. All excellent in my opinion.
If you have any questions after visiting the site, ask me. The message boards are great too!

Thank you Melissa and KCG!! I will check into everything you guys recommended.

Oh yeah I definately agree, alongside the immense spiritual and mental benefits YOGA is so friendly to the muscles! :D

I am wondering if maybe those of us who have not gotten to Pilates (in my case I know I am not strong enough for it yet) would not be benefited by first easing into a yoga routine to make us (if nothing else) limber.

cheers,

Samantha*** ;D
