Help. Please.
« on: April 26, 2006, 08:46:16 PM »
I just got off the phone with the people from InternationalStudentLoans.com, but they say they don't give loans to Foreign Enrolled Students who don't have a sister school in the US. (I'm attending Gloucestershire Uni) They're giving me the run around and I'm not quite sure what to do.

Please, please help. I'm so worried I'm not going to get funding. I've come so far and I'm so close to getting myself finally to England and I just...Please, if you can any help or advice. I'm at the end of my rope here. I have no other options.

I feel for you- my school has a FAFSA code (which is pretty much the basic requirement for getting student loans, federal or private) and I'm *still* worried that I'm not going to get the extra private loan I'm taking out on top of the Stafford.  I really have no idea what I would do if I didn't have access to that $18.5K in federal funds or the TERI loan...to be honest, I most likely wouldn't be able to afford it at all.  I think pretty much your only option is to take out a general private loan from the bank (not specifically a student one bc you said they hadn't approved your school right?)  Another option would be to look into getting your uni to apply for a FAFSA code- I have no idea if it could be done in time or if it can be done at all, but maybe you should ask them *why* they're not on the 'approved list' and how you can get them on there.  Good luck!

Yeah. I guess I should talk to my financial people at my school first before I start to freak out, but honestly, it's just disheartening to be told "no" by so many loan companies. General private loan. Hrm. I wonder who through, though? And if I could get a defferred payment on it. :|

But thank you for the words of encouragement and such. It does make me feel a little bit better.

Perhaps try a different company?  Sallie Mae or a local bank, etc.
