YAY! You must be really excited.  I have to say that the Chicago consulate was AMAZING!  I went on St. Patrick's Day (for good luck!) and it took about seven minutes for them to approve my visa.  I was also there about 20mins early and they let me right in.
I think as long as you have the needed documents (and I had that and MORE!) you'll be fine.  The funny thing (well it kind of peeved me at the time) is that they didn't even look at everything they request people bring.  I spent so much time getting everything together and they only really looked at a couple of things.

Oh, if you have pictures of you two, bring them! She spent the majority of her time looking through my scrapbook! :)

thanks :)

the wedding is 6 may, and we fly to birmingham on 13 may.

i wonder, though: should we mention this at the consulate, the fact that we already have the flight booked? i suppose it could seem presumptuous on our part... ???

Hmm good question.  You should at least tell them when you want the permit to start I think.  I didn't want to seem presumptuous either when I went for my interview so I left the date blank.  They asked me what date and I said well I didn't know and hadn't booked a ticket yet.  They said well, you have to choose a date because it will only be good starting that date - i.e. you can't enter the country before the start date.  So I gave them the date I had chosen.

I don't see any harm in telling them, especially for a spousal visa.  I believe that for fiancĂ© visas, they tell you not to book in advance, just in case.  (But I had my tickets booked and paid for and my bags all packed.)

Chris booked his but we could not pre book so we did the next best thing and for another $100 he can change the flights if we really have to so he can follow me over we are hoping they will say yes to the visa.

We fly back tomorrow it has come around so fast 6 months has flown by and we are scared stiff excited about getting married and seeing everyone but anxious about the visa we just want to get it over with.

Hope we both have good luck with the visa.

Enjoy your flight back  :D

:D have a wonderful day when you get married and be thinking of you with your visa if we have the internet will let you know how we got on fingers crossed.

Have a safe journey back to the UK.

We can't wait to get back to see the 3 older boys we have had tears tonight and they are really clingy to us wish we had booked to go back when they where on holiday now wish we could take them with us. Josh the oldest told Chris he loves him like a dad and wants us all to be together the boys wrote a wonderful letter to the consulate it made us cry you do not realise how close they become my boys are quiet they give lots of hugs and loves but this last few days they have been so open about how  much they love Chris and its wonderful. They all are fantastic.

Have a great wedding.
