Thanks Smootie! That's a huge help, especially the places to stay away from. You always hear how beautiful Bath is that you tend to forget there are trouble areas.  I'm sorry you're having such a hard time finding a place. I was told I shouldn't even bother to start looking until July, but I have gone ahead and registered with a couple of places online. It sounds like July may even be too early for a September move in date. Have you considered living in Bristol and commuting via train? I'm considering it as it seems you can get a bit more for your money there. Hopefully this last day and a half will be successful for you!

Thanks again!
Kim

We're back in the US now, feeling pretty good that we got so many things accomplished for our move. We got a vet lined up for our cat, and even have a vet appointment so our kitty can get his prescription food fairly soon after we move. I got a UK mobile phone, that is triband, so I can use it in the US when I come back to visit.

On My Way, feel free to PM me if you want any more info on finding places, etc in the area. We'll in a pleasant little village about 10-15 minutes from the Bath center of town, called Peasedown.

Glad to hear you've found a place, Smootie! My husband will be looking for a place for us to rent in Bath this week. We're looking for a summer rental with the hopes of househunting (to buy) as soon as we get there. He too has a list of things he hopes to take care of on his short visit. It must feel good to know you have an address lined up!

Good to hear--we're moving to Nottingham in August with two indoor cats, and are a bit nervous about finding a place that'll accept two non-Brits with cats.

Regarding the kitties, we really tried to sell the fact that they're indoor cats (well we only mentioned one actually) and said he was declawed. We offered extra money for a deposit. The Letting Agent could not think of any damage that our cat could do, and I think because she was convinced, she was able to tell the Landlords that there was not much to worry about. In the end, the landlords did not even ask for a deposit.
