Rabies vaccine certificate.....
« on: April 06, 2006, 02:20:11 AM »
The rabies vaccine certificate I (and anyone else living in my county) was given is a small piece of paper without enough room to mark the microchip #, date of insertion and place inserted on animal.
So, my vet is going to type of a second certificate and sign it with all this information.  Do you think that will be okay?  If not, he'll have to write the information on the current certificate and backdate it?  It'll be obvious that he did it after he vaccinated my dog, because it will be in pen.

Any advice?  Am I right to believe that as long as the USDA vet approves this, we should be okay with the UK?

I hope so!  I didn't get an official "certificate" of any kind.  I just got a regular piece of paper showing that she got a shot that day and it was valid for a year.  Our vet hand wrote on the paper the brand/name/lot # of the vaccine on the paper along with the microchip #.

I'm worried this won't be ok :(

It's the certificate from the lab in kansas that is important together with the section on the third Country cert. that deals with the rabies vaccine. On both will list the batch no. and microchip no.

My rabies vaccinatiohn certificate (Based on NASPHV form 50) didn't have room either for the microchip number but my vet put the small sticker up on the top part of the form so it was at least there. I should think that would be ok as long as you carry the 2 papers together.

The only "offical" certificate I got was the Pet Travel Scheme Entry or Re-entry of pet dog or cat into the United kingdom.  This was was actually embossed with a raised seal .

My certificate from the lab in kansas doesn't have the batch no. or manufacturer information regarding the rabies vaccination.  Defra didn't seem to think this was a problem.

I hope this isn't bad...

What information was on the sticker? Just the microchip number, or the date of insertion and place it was inserted on ur animal??

I don't think I should be reading this. I sent all my papers to the USDA yesterday, and this thread is sending panic waves. I guess if soemthing's not right, we'll still have time to drive the right documents over there. :-[

I actually hand wrote the microchip number on the vaccine record.  It worked fine.

Update: I spoke with the USDA vet and you Do NOT need the date of microchipping and the place on the animal on the vaccination record.

What is the 3rd country certificate? For some reason I had it in my mind that it was "Third World" certificates......
I just sent my paper work to the vet and don't remember having anything that involved a 3rd country cert.
