The title says it all....get ready for a silly question  :)

I am going to get a job during summer break (4 months) and, I am wondering if I have to start paying council tax. I am on a student visa.

Thanks. :)

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

i wouldn't think so, since council tax is calculated by fiscal year - april to april.

Depends on what your council tax certificate from your uni says.  Mine said school was in session from Oct 5 2004 so I had to pay council tax for the 6 weeks I lived in my flat before school started.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Don't quote me on this, but I think you're okay as long as you're under continuous education...like if you're also going to be enrolled for the next year, then you're still officially a 'student' oveer the summer.  My boyfriend & his flatmates never paid council tax the whole time they were at uni, summer or no.  Now if you were there for a year abroad, your term ended in May/June and THEN you stayed for summer work, you might be liable for council tax, similar to people who were forced to pay for time before their term started.  I would ask your local authority...are you in a student-only house?  They might never notice to bill you for CT if no one else is paying and they are all continuous enrolled.
