Visiting 4 time in 2 years...
« on: May 08, 2006, 02:59:30 PM »
Do you think I will have a problem with customs? I went through heathrow in 2004, then again last november, then in march...and I am hoping to visit in August! Do you think they will give me a hard time? I am just obsessed with England, and want to visit again!!!

Minor point - it's not customs but immigration that you're worried about.

I came FAR more times than that in the last couple of years that I lived in the US and I never had any trouble. But plenty of people here weren't so lucky.... I was even honest (naive?) enough to say that I was visiting my boyfriend.... They may ask for proof that you have enough money for the trip (saying you have a credit card isn't good enough) and want to know about your job, etc. in the US to try to ascertain if you have something to go back for.... In a way it's the luck of the draw whether or not you get hassled.  :-\\\\ But IMHO, 4 times in 2 years isn't all that much....

Yeah, I was the same way, 1/2 my passport is filled with UK LHR stamps...  I was always going on business meetings and always had a return ticket.  Also, I was often transferring to Ireland and then coming back to the UK later on in my trips.  They basically rubber stamped my passport.

I would say just be prepared to answer, honestly, why you keep coming to visit, and like Anne says, make sure you have some sort of proof that you can a) afford to be away from whatever gainful employment you have and b) you have a means to support yourself.
WARNING My thoughts and comments are entirely my own.  Especially when it comes to immigration and tax advice, I am not a professional.  My advice is to seek out professional advice.  Your mileage may vary!

Between travelling to London for work and to see my (then) boyfriend-become-fiancĂ©, I racked-up many more visits than that.  I was never questioned.
