the correct order of visas...

hello...
im kind of confused,,,
could someone lay out the order of the visas becuase im really confused abt the diff between flr and spousal visa and limited leave to remain...

so if the fiancee visa route is choosen , what are the next steps ?is it like this

so first is
-the fiancee visa from the US(marry within 6months)
-next is the spousal visa in the UK(valid till?)
-then FLR? (valid till)
-then unlimited leave to remain? dont know the correct names for the visas sorry... plz correct me... those visas are making my head go round ... if someone would kindly lay them out nicely ...

FLR valid for 2 years
ILR valid for (I think) 2 years
then after that runs out you're up for citizenship

ILR is indefinite leave to remain- you could stay permanently in the UK on this.  It is a residency permit, basically.

Those of other nationalities who cannot be dual have to remain on ILR. It doesn't expire.

after three years of residency in the UK, have having received ILR, you can then make application for UK citzenship.

First of all, there is no such things as an 'FLR' visa.  ALthough your visa may have FLR on it, so does every single other visa issued from within the UK, from Student to Investor, so using this as a description of a visa just makes things REALLY confusing!!!

The route is as follows:

Get fiancee visa
Come to the UK and marry within 6 months
Switch as soon as possible to spousal visa, which will be granted for 2 years
Two years later, no more than 28 days before the spousal visa expires, apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain

If you wish to, you can then apply for citizenship after you have been here for a total of three years, but you don't have to.  You will have ILR for the rest of your life, even if the marriage breaks up, as long as you don't leave the country for 2 years without returning.
