Hello,

I have been accepted to the Glasgow School of art and will be going there on september 6th.  I am getting married on August 12th!  Cutting it close I know.  Should I wait until I get married before I apply for my visa or should I apply for it now and have my fiance apply for hers after the wedding?  I don't want to look suspicious and have no idea which course looks less suspicious.

Any insight into my dilemma would be greatly appreciated!
Love the site by the way, it has been an amazing help.

Is your fiancee a UK citizen?  If so, apply for your spousal visa after the wedding.  If she isn't, you still have to apply for your student visa after the wedding so she can be a dependent on your visa.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Thanks for the response.
My fiance is a US citizen and would be coming with me on a spousal visa.  I guess my dilemma is that I need to move on September 6th and we are getting married on august 12th I am concerned that it will be so close (moving and getting the visas).  In the first scenerio I would apply with no dependents then ammend it when we get married (to ensure that at least I got my visa in time).  I guess I am just getting stressed out about it and want to make sure I do as much as I can as early as I can.

Ok, your fiancee won't apply for a spousal visa. She'll be a dependent on your student visa (unless you're a UK citizen?).  So, you need to apply for your student visa after you get married and she'll be a part of your application.  You can get your visa on the same day if you travel to the consulate.  I don't think you can amend a student visa to include your fiancee after the wedding.  Just wait until after you're married and have your marriage certificate.  It won't be suspicious.  You planned a wedding, she's legitimately your wife.  And if you apply for your visa on say, the 14th of August, I'm sure you'd have it by 6 Sept.  Student visas don't take that long to process.  Mine took 12 working days.
