Well, tecnically he's not a replacement as Rooney has been named in the squad. Rooney is unlikely to recover in time though! In which case, Defoe or Bent may get called upon, maybe even Fowler if Sven's been on the happy pills again.  :D

From what i've seen of Walcott he looks competent enough, although those were Championship games for Southampton. However, at this level defenders have no answer to pace! We all know what happened at France 98, when boy wonder Owen took the world by storm.

I just hope Rooney doesn't lie like Beckham and declare himself fit, when he isn't.

Anyone hear the gag they did on Have I Got News for You tonight about Walcott?

They were discussing that Sven has never seen him play and then someone asked where did Sven find him then.  The reply?  Google!  Too funny.

As an Arsenal supporter, I still can't believe Theo was chosen as he hasn't even played in the Premiership.  Bent should've gotten picked as he did score 18 goals for Charlton this year.

I have the feeling it will go either way - but will be an extreme. He'll either save the day, be the star, and all of the hype will be true or the absolute opposite and Sven will see why some people are very, very, very skeptical. I personally would be taking Sean Wright-Phillips, but that's just me.  :)

I hardly think he's 'replacing' Rooney.  Why not have him on the team?  Give the youngins a chance!
