aw, that's what I wanted to work with my bluetooth but my brother talked me out of it... sucked batteries he said. What do you think?

My bf talked me out of a cordless one, too. But I'm actually very happy with my little laptop Microsoft optical mouse. It has a weird, skinny, flexible cord (not like my old mouse) that doesn't bother me at all.

Anybody else use a trackball?   I've always found them much more convenient and easier to use than a mouse.   (O.K., so maybe I spent too much time playing "Missile Command" years ago.....  ;) ).

Hubby has one and we used to have one on the join PC.  It's nice when you don't have a lot of room for moving a mouse, but I've found it difficult to use with precision work.

I've found it difficult to use with precision work.

I've never found that to be a problem, but then the size of the ball and the rate at which it moves the cursor would make a big difference.    Adjustable scaling, or even a double coarse/fine ball would probably be the ideal.

I still quite like light pens for some applications.

I love trackballs and use one now with my laptop.  I can't really stand the mouse on the laptops themselves although do use them if in a pinch.
I disagree with the precision statement on trackballs, once you get used to them they are great, and no bother moving them around like normal mice.

Breaking news:

I was complaining earlier about how much I wanted a MacbookPro but was not happy that it only came in in a behomoth 17" bulky package.  No more.  Apple has released a new line of MacBooks in 13" monitors to replace the old Powerbook and iBook line. All the new Macbooks and MacbookPros (now in 15" and 17" monitors) run on Intel.

I switched to a Mac 6 months ago and LOVE it. It is so much faster to boot up and so much faster and more reliable than my PC, which is about 3 years old.

That said, there are a number of programs on my PC that I cannot get for the Mac, so I keep them both operating. 80% of my time is on the Mac, and I far prefer working on it.

A friend used to work in tech support and had this to say:
PCs have problems all the time, but they are quick to fix. A knowlegable person can fix most PC problems in about 15 minutes.
Macs rarely have problems, but they are doozies. A knowledgable person can fax most Mac problems in MORE THAN A FULL DAY!

Now, that was based on Macs old operating system, so with OS, it may be even more robust.

LOL, it is indeed the same!
It does work for me, though... I accidentally put it in as a quote, let's see if this works:

After a lot of research and waiting for the bugs to get worked out, I've decided to buy a Macbook 13" monitor with 2.0ghz. Apple.com list price is $1,299.

If anyone is still interested, the best deal I found right now is on Amazon.com (US), which is selling for $1,199 AFTER a $100 mail-in rebate!  That's even cheaper than my company's Apple discount program or my wife's teacher discount.   And best of all, Amazon does not charge sales tax like the Apple website.  Of course, that all depends on mailing the computer to a US address, which I plan to ship to my sister's house and pick it up on our trip home next month.

We love our Macs, me 'n' the Hubster and, in fact, he's come to love my 12" PowerBook G4 so much that he's using my old one instead of his 15"!

Wouldn't be without 'em and I'd hate to go back to using a PC.

As for whoever said that you can't right-click with a Mac - you can! Just hold down the control button and click, it's as simple as that.

That said, I did pick myself up a bluetooth mouse purely for game-playing... ;)
