Going to school in the UK while on a Fiancée Visa

Hi there. I SWEAR I have seen a wholehearted 'YES!' answer to this question, but I have searched high and low and it is nowhere to be found. 

I'd like to start a part-time schooling program (in the UK) training to be a preschool teacher. The program would start in September, one month before we get married. Is it OK for me to go to school while on the Fiancée Visa?

Part 2 of the question is: This program involves "working" with the children. As this is part of the schooling program, does it not count as work?

Finally, a completely RANDOM Fiancée visa application question... What the HECK does "in a relationship like marriage" mean? I lived with a previous boyfriend for 2 years (no marriage, no kids) - does that count?

In other words...its asking if you and your fiance are you intimate or lived together for a period of time. its not asking about your past relationships with anyone else

Yes, you can attend school whilst on a fiance visa. 

To your second question, i.e., working as part of your school program, the school needs to agree that it is part of the program.  And if it is NVQ3 or above, they need to show it to Sheffield.  If it is a large school, they will have a liaison to do that.

Actually I think it is referring to any arrangement (e.g. civil partnership) that you would have to legally dissolve in order to enter another relationship akin to marriage.  Also some parts of the world also consider you common law partners where if you had children, etc. they might have legal rights to palimoney or child support.  If you have to explain any of these legal things, this is where you would say you had a relationship.  If you have no legal obligations remaining from your relationship with your former boyfriend, you are fine not mentioning it here.

With regard to the 'previous relationships' question, I usually only say yest if, as has been suggested, there was a legal arrangement, or if the relationship produced children or if there was a joint mortgage. Anything else would not seem to me to be 'akin to marriage' but I guess it depends on your own personal view.  If you felt at the time that is was as good as being married, then put yes.  It really won't make a huge amount of difference.

Darn... so I could have possibly started studying for a NVQ2 last year...      I figured that the no work even volunteer meant I couldn't do that either. 

LOL... I think this also goes into my "if I'd only have known" file.  I pushed our wedding ahead to make sure that I would have FLR by the time I began my course.  Oh well.  At least now I won't be worrying about wedding stuff while trying to study too!
