MOving to UK in August-need advice on places to live!

My husband and I are moving to England in August-he applied for a job transfer within his agency in the Dept of  Defense. The job is in Loudwater. I am not sure what I am going to do for work yet, but we'd like to live either in London...but close to his work, and on a tube line...or we'd like some advice on areas around Loudwater that are nice, and have easy access to London by car or train.

I am 28 and ny hubby is 30, we have no kids, we are looking for adventure on our move, we want to be immersed in the culture, be in a safe neighborhood, but we don't need too much, as we will be spending a lot of time traveling throughout Europe (this job is a three year assignment),.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! Oh and we're moving from Arizona-away from 120 degree heat! YEAH!!

Maybe we can help each other out. We are retiring this year and going back to Oregon.

We live in London at Canary Wharf, a 5 minute walk to the London Light Rail or a 10 minute walk to the Julilee Line Tube station.

We didn't want to pay rent or take out another mortgage so this was the perfect solution for us. Lots of Londoners are catching on to this idea. Folks are buying live aboard vessels for the work week to cut out the commute home all week.
