Financial Co-Sponsors for UK Spousal Visa?
« on: May 19, 2006, 12:51:18 AM »
Hi everyone

I've been a member on here for ages but never posted much. My english fiance and I are getting married on June 10th in the states and then he is leaving, going back to England and I will apply for the spousal visa to move there.

Unfortunately he is currently out of work so we'll probably need a co-sponsor to prove that we will not require public funds. How do we go about providing information for a co-sponsor? From what I've heard we must have a letter from them stating that they would provide us with fiancial assistance if we were in need of any. Are original bank statments required for the co-sponsor?

Also my fiance is currently on job seekers but will be signing off before he leaves the country (since it is required). Would it  be better for  him to hold off on reapplying when he's back in England so that he would not be on public funds?
Juls xx

I think you also have to provide proof of accomidation in the UK, so either a mortage or tentant papers.  Also you will have to have permission from the owner/landlord stating that it is acceptable for you to reside there.

I am not certain, but I think the bank statements would apply to whomever is sponsoring you in addition to the letter of support.

If the people helping you out are just providing financial support, then there needs to be a letter of intent and three months of bank statement, ideally along with three months of pay slips.

If they are also providing you with accommodation, then they need to give proof that there is room for you and that they own the property.
