notarizin' of the passport
« on: May 23, 2006, 12:23:42 AM »
Sorry if this posts twice, my computer is being weird!

Hey everyone,

I'm starting to get my stuff together for my spousal visa application (getting married August 13th... eek!). My fiance has to go back to work in England after the wedding, so he won't be able to come with me to the embassy in NYC. We're kind of iffy on him mailing me his passport, so we'll probably submit a notarized one.

My question is - can we get it notarized in the US, while he's here for the wedding/honeymoon, or does he have to get it notarized in the UK, and then mail me the copy? I think that sometimes he doesn't get a stamp in his passport when he goes back to the UK, so I'm wondering if it would matter if we did it here before he leaves and maybe save some time. Any ideas?

Thanks muchly,
Michelle

I don't see why he can't get it notarised in the US.  You have notaries don't you?

Yup, I actually know a guy who is one, so we were planning on going to him. I was just wondering if his return stamp (or lack of) would make a difference.
