Am I covered.. or do I need more or less stuff?
« on: June 02, 2006, 08:35:51 PM »
Hello,

I am just about to parcel up my half of the immigration file, as it has now become, and I just wanted to check with you guys as you are a font of information!

We will be applying online, but I have a covering letter for all of the information to be sent, and I have indexed everything in the file, which includes the following:

A letter from me to state my intentions
A paper, handwritten copy of the VAF2 form, signed by my DF
A full copy of my passport certified by a solicitor
My birth certificate
Photographs of us together
Copies of flight itineries for the last two trips
Souvenirs from the times we have spent together
A letter from my family stating he can live here once he comes over with a copy of their mortgage papers
A copy of a housing application in my name to the local council
A copy of how much I can get for a mortgage on my wage
A years worth of payslips and my P60
18 months worth of bank statements
A years worth of savings account statements
A letter from my employer to say I have a permenant job
Flight arrangements if the visa is granted
Copies of arrangements for the wedding

DF will add his passport and letters/cards I have sent him as well as photographs

I have numbered everything and slipped them into plastic pockets, in a corresponding order with the application form.  Do you think this will be enough?  Have I gone overboard with the information?

Thanks in advance!!!

For the most part, I would say overdone!  Only 3 months of financial information is required, but it does need to be the three most recent months.  They aren't going to care about the flight arrangements, except in support that you have done some planning for the wedding.  And I assume on the passport you have each page copied and certified, including the blank ones?

The letter you are sending should state your intentions and restate when you met and how long you have known each other.  The letter from the employer should also state how long you have been employed and how much you earn.

He should also provide 3 months of his bank statements, his CV and should be prepared to address how he will find work and he needs to write a letter stating that he knows you, how you met, etc...  He should have 2 passport photos and don't forget the money $492 he will need to apply.

That's my two pence...  ;)

Thanks kitsonk, your two pence was greatly appreciated!!

I have all of the pages copied, including the blank ones, but the signature is on the page with my mugshot, will that be enough, or does each page need to be signed?

My letter from my employer states my position, current wage and the pending payrise, and how long I have been employed.  It was very well written, I wrote it :p

I have his granny prodding him and making sure he does stuff now, since he lost his birth certificate  ::)

I might be wrong, but I think each page needs to be a certified copy, but maybe someone else knows better.  My partner sent his whole passport, which isn't as scary as it sounds.

That's how I understood it.  I am fairly certain that every page needs to be a certified copy...even the blanks.  I think I saw Victoria answer this in another thread the other day.
