Entry Clearance for HSMP workers
« on: June 05, 2006, 06:45:31 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm at the point of EC and wanted to know how to address my living situation in the application.

I will be staying with family friends when i move over and they will not be charging me rent (they are like second partents). I've heard that i should include a letter from them stating that i will be living with them and that i will have my own rooms. Should they also include a nominal rent payment?

What have other people done?

I don't think paying rent is necessary, but showing you have accommodation.  Your sponsor will need to provide mortgage or lease papers to show they have the authority to provide you with a room and likely you should also address the total number of people in the house and how many bedrooms there are just so they know that you aren't going into some sort of immigrant hostel or something... ;)

As it's the HSMP they aren't acting as sponsors so i'm wondering if they would need to include their mortgage?

You need to show that you have somewhere to legally live, so yes.
