US debit card with Visa logo

I would like  use my US debit card with visa logo on it to get around $2000 , I dont want to use
ATM machine because I am limited to $300 per day.
I heard that I can go to any bank and get advance cash with my debit card , what is the best way
to access my money in US  ? and the fee for doing that ?

be aware that I dont have a bank account yet in UK.

A cash advance is for a credit card not for a debit card. You can only get cash for your debit card if you actually have that cash in your account.

Of Course I do have money in my account, I am just looking for a way to access my money.

You cant take out cash above your limit... you can sometimes get your bank to increase your limit, though.   Talk to them!   NICELY. 

Actually, it's true that with a card you use as a debit card in ATM's, you can go into a bank and withdraw a higher amount.  However, even though it is your cash and it is in the bank, they will charge you cash advance fees.  You are probably better off just taking money out of the ATM every day for seven days. 


My father just did this when he was here.  The ATM was not accepting his card, so we went into the bank and they processed it.  However, he was charged cash advance fees.  He uses Sky Bank and when he called them the following Monday they told him they had had a freeze on all UK ATM withdrawals (no idea why) for a few days...
The next day and the rest of the trip he was able to use the ATM with no problems.

Banks are strange places.

I've used my US Visa debit card in the UK for a year. It has a $500/day or $5000 item purchase limit per day. There was no fee until May of this year, but they now charge 1% on the amount, whether it's at the cash register or withdrawals from the ATM. With the exchange rate of the dollar these days plus the 1% fee, it definitely hurts the pocketbook.
