Switching over utilities
« on: August 19, 2006, 05:12:04 PM »
Hello,

New here, and I love this site.  I've learned lots.

I'm moving into a flat next week.  The utilities are already turned on, and I just have to switch them over to my name.  Can I do this with a phone call, or do I have to go to the utility offices (gas, water, and electric)?  And how much on average are the deposits?  I'll be living just outside of London.

Thanks.
I leave for work at 7:10 each morning, and get home at 6:00 each evening.  Wish I could stay home all day and do nothing but sit around on UKY!  What a life!  And I have no Internet access in my classroom, so I can't just stop teaching and surf UKY.  Can you believe it??  Horrid, my job!

I called for mine, and I didn't put down any deposits.  I'm in London.

Excellent to hear -- thanks for the speedy replies!  Now all I need is for the landlord to give me phone numbers (I don't even know yet which company the utilities are with).

Cheers!
