Did you get diagnosed here or in the states? Do you just go to the GP to get a referral to have it checked out? I think my husband suffers from it but am not sure how we'd go about getting it checked out.
Yes, I got diagnosed in the states, but am moving in a couple months to the UK permently.
I went to my GP. I thought I might have had it but I was actually more worried it might be a throid problem. My mom and several of her sisters have had terrible problems with their thyroid. I wasn't sleeping well. After I described my symptoms he basically said "Oh, You have sleep apnea" but it needed a proper diagonsis, and I was sent for a sleep study.
The sleep study was not very "fun" because you get attached to all these electrodes and have to try to sleep. They put me on the machine after a couple hours and it made all the difference. It is like night and day. I wake up now and feel like I actually got sleep! I wake about 10 times more alert then I did before. It is quite amazing.
Sleep Apnea can cause a whole host of problems and is very underdiagnosed from what I understand. It will ruin your heart in the long term and can cause memory problems, depression and other issues as well. If you are concerned about your DH, you should get him to a doctor.
