Question about bank statements for ILR
« on: July 24, 2006, 09:40:53 PM »
I'm applying for ILR at the beginning of September, and was just looking over the Set(M) forms.  The form says, "The evidence must be formal documents such as bank statements, a building society passbook, or wage slips for you and/or your partner...".  My husband and I have four different bank accounts at the moment (though we're closing one soon and another in a few months).  Do we need to provide three months of statements for all of these accounts or will statements from our main account suffice?  Is it bad to just provide wage slips and avoid the whole bank account issue altogether?

I'm under the impression that it's just x amount of pieces of evidence.  If you have enough evidence without using bank statements that should be fine.  Personally I imagine in 2008 when I go for ILR bank statements will be one of the things we include (as hubby's employer has gone electronic and no longer issues paper stubs).

no matter how many bank statements you have..  or how many accounts you have.. they count it as one source.  Bring your wage slips as  well. but yes, it is also just one source. I'd say make your 10 pieces of info that spreads over the  two years.. but bring it all for back up.  That is what I  did and luckily  I had it because  although they say 10 pieces, I didn't have any for the  first few months  [(but more for the later months of that first year)  and although I had credit card statemnets  for various accounts  (they only counted as  one source)]..She finally just told me to hand it ALL over  and was then satisfied, or made an allowance, I'm not sure.

Your question is referring to the evidence for how you will support yourself, so you only need to show wage slips. I brought 12 months but you need at least the last 3 months. I seem to remember that if you're earning £25K+ then you won't get (m)any questions. If both of you together make more than that then bring both your wage slips.

The reference to bank accounts is to say that if you don't have your wage slips then bank statements will be proof enough that you are receiving a regular wage, so make sure you bring the account into which your wages are paid!! :P

For proof of residence your wage slips or bank statements can count if they have your address & a date of issue on them (which they surely will!). But, as AZroomie says, they count different bank accounts as one source, so only one bank statement (from any bank) per person per year will be counted.

Having said that if you can turn up with 2 years worth of statements per account it all helps.

These are small... those are far away.

I think she is specifically talking about bank statements as proof of two years residence.
