Need help with Customs Clearance paperwork
« on: July 24, 2006, 10:47:54 AM »
Well, apparently my stuff has arrived a week early.... to the wrong port, but they will ship it up to Manchester... BUT... we are getting the run around with the customs form.  I have it, completely filled out, but the cargo company wants to charge us £70 to complete this paperwork.

Who do we go to?!  This is ridiculous.  It would be like paying the post office to pick up a registered letter that was already paid for!

HELP!  Can we cut out the middleman or are we doomed to pay the excess.

You are probably going to have to work with them.  I am surprised they even allowed you to ship the stuff without all the forms going and traveling with it.

Customs form was filled out and a copy sent with the shipment, but you have to supply an original to customs here to release the shipment.

Through research, it seems customs is being centralized in Manchester and that is the only place to deal with it.  We ended up paying the cargo company to deal with the customs paperwork, posted it off yesterday.  Kind of box you in that way, don't they?

But if all goes well, my stuff will be up in the warehouse by the end of the week.  Just confirmed with the cargo company that they have received the paperwork and all is moving forward.
