Hi everyone,
Just wondering if others are going through the long wait like me.
This is the timeline so far..
Dec. 05 went to GP with foot injury
Jan 06 had xray taken
back to see GP who referred me to Ortho Consultant ( had to see a practitioner first) and also Physiotherapy
May 06 saw practitioner who referred me to consultant ( I was told it was ligament damage and I would need to have it casted)
meanwhile I was called by physio and asked if I still needed to be seen.... uuugghhh YES! went to physio for 7 weeks
July 06 back to GP for pain med refill and also ask if I could buy my own foot brace until I saw the consultant, he said I should wait because it shouldn't be much longer
July 06 received letter for revisit to practitioner (went to see her and was told the letter was sent by mistake)
Aug.06 had to quit work because I couldn't keep standing on my foot all day
( during this time my GP keeps giving me stronger painkillers until I can get something done for it)
Aug.06 my GP calls the consultants office to try to get me in sooner, haven't had a reply yet from him if he was able to ( that was two weeks ago)
now on Aug 9th I called the appointment dept myself and was told that they haven't gotten around to scheduling appts for May referrals yet. ..So who knows when I'll be able to see the consultant!!
It's been nine months so far with my foot in pain and I don't see an end in site
I know there is a wait to see a consultant when you go through the NHS but this is looooong. I'm ready to ask how much it would cost to be seen if I pay for it.
