Holiday flat/house opinion needed

Now, I've been thinking about this for a while. I don't know why I bother, because it's not even my decision.. But Jamie's mom and dad want to put bars on the windows of the flat they're renting out in Tenerife. The thing is, it's a very secure complex. When I think of bar on the windows I think of prison. I wonder if it will effect the flat being rented out, I'm not sure if it's a big turn off for most people. I just hate bars on windows.

Do others have bars on them?  If it was common in a safe complex then I would think it was fine...but if they were pioneering it.  Well-i would tell them not to!  I think it is common to do it for storm purposes too?  But I guess I would be offput seeing bars on windows.

Have you checked out the fire escapes?  It may be that the windows would be the only means of escape in the even of a fire, n which case bars would obviously be a bad idea.

I don't think any of the others have them... I'm not sure though. It's a safe complex and there's always people about. They have their own security. On the pictures they took I didn't notice anyone with bars on their wondows. I just don't want it to hinder people from going, I know for myself I wouldn't want to stay in a place with bars on the windows.
