Looks like McLaren is really taking charge!

But all that article says is that he's been excluded from the squad for next week's friendly. They were saying on the BBC this morning that he's injured and wouldn't have been included in the lineup anyway.... They mentioned that in relation to a similar article in the Sun today.... I'd be skeptical that he's permanently out,  though I do think he's on his way out at some point soonish....

I think people are reading too much into this.  As you say, he is recovering from injury, and also it is common practice for a manager to give new faces a bit of a chance in friendlies.  McLaren is working out his squad for the Euro qualifiers, and rightly he wants to give Lennon a chance of 90 mins before then.

I didn't realize he was recovering from an injury.  He's supposed to be playing in Salt Lake City tomorrow night!

One of Beckham's primary roles is leader. That is one of the main qualities for which he was valued. Now that he's stepped down from the role of Captain, a huge part of his identity on the team is missing. He is still a great player, but I agree that there are new faces and "fresh legs" that the team feels they should give a chance.

He was only in the team because he was captain, he has been abysmal for nearly 3 years! John Terry will be found wanting at this level, Stevie G should've been given the armband!

Okay...I am a football novice, so I have to ask, is Beckham off the team for good?  That's the impression I got from news articles, but then the paper was the Sun so....you know how that goes.
