newbie ebay/paypal question...
« on: August 23, 2006, 05:37:28 PM »
OK, I've just bought something for the first time on ebay (I know, I know! talk about behind the times!). Anyway, we have a paypal account linked to DH's bank account which we used to pay for it. We're newbies with paypal, too. I always thought paypal was supposed to be quite quick but I just looked and though we bought the item yesterday, it says the funds won't clear until 1 Sept!! Is this normal?? I really wanted this item before that!

That seems unusual.  Maybe the paypal account isn't verified yet?

Yes you have to get verified otherwise your payment will be treated as a cheque. This happened to me when my debit card had expired. Give paypal a ring and get verified. But chances are its too late to change the date of your most recent paypal purchase.

ok, so if it's too late to verify for this purchase by ringing them, do I need to do it anyway? i.e., by making this purchase, will doing that verify me?

Doesn't verification involve them sending a tiny amt to your account and then you phoning them? It's been so long I can't remember.  :(

no, we already did that.

If you already did that I would contact paypal and ask why the delay.  Any paypal payments I haveever made have been debited from my account straight away, just like a normal switch card payment.  Also, let your vendor know what the problem is so they don't leave you bad feedback!

ok, I figured it out. it's not the amounts paypal deposits into your account, it's verifying the billing address linked to your debit card.

thanks!
