Don't Use PayPal to send money to family in the US
« on: October 26, 2006, 10:45:53 AM »
I know we have had several threads on here that recommended this method. I sent my daughter almost £1000 yesterday for visas. Well PayPal decided it was 'suspicious activity' on my account. That money is frozen until I go through all these steps. I have spoken to their helpline and they won't release my funds until I do. It is horrid, because I am having to send a copy of my passport, track a transaction on my credit card and other things. And they won't even refund my money until I do so. It is horrid. And my poor teens whole visa process is on hold until this is complete...3 to 4 BUSINESS days. So if you actually need to transfer funds to friends or family in the US securely, DON'T use PayPal.

I never use PayPal anymore b/c they are a racket and a law unto themselves and rip off their customers at every turn.

You can better believe they are making interest out of your £1000 whilst it is sitting there.

The funny thing is that the guy I spoke with actually had the audacity to deny that they were receiving any interest on my money. Can you believe it?
