Need HELP!! What brand of appliances are best?!!?!
« on: September 30, 2006, 07:02:07 PM »
I think I may have posted this before, but I can't find it, so here goes again!

We're moving into our flat next week and need to buy all the major appliances (oven, fridge, washer, dryer etc..), but I don't know which brand (for which appliance) is best!

We want a good brand, so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it!

There is a magazine here similar to Consumer Reports in the US - it's called Which? magazine or something like that.  I don't subscribe but have thought about it.  Anyway, you might find it useful for researching things like that.  Not sure if libraries would have past issues or what - maybe worth looking into?

In terms of build quality and reliability issues, it's actually becoming quite difficult to say with any certainly that brand X is better than brand Y.   It's not uncommon these days to find that a manufacturer has different models assembled in different plants, and quality can vary.   Or the company suddenly shifts production to a different place or starts using different components, with the result that early versions of model Z can be fine while later ones seem to have more problems, or vice versa.

It's exactly like that!   ;)
