Keep up rabies vaccination in UK?
« on: October 16, 2006, 10:58:13 PM »
Well the cats and I have been here (UK) for a few months now, but I noticed that their rabies vaccination is about to expire (from when we started the whole petpassport process last October). Question is, is it standard to keep up on the rabies vaccine here in the UK? I need to know really soon, as I have a vet appointment tomorrow for one of the cats!

It looks like if we ever moved back to the US we just have to make sure they have a rabies vaccination 30 days prior to moving back. But, we don't plan on going back anytime soon.

No, you won't need to keep up the cats' rabies vaccines. But your vet will be able to do it for you if you ever need to leave the UK to a country where a rabies vaccine is required.

If you want to take the cats out of the UK within the EU and bring them back, it's simpler to have their rabies boosters up to date.
