Hi all,
Wanted to pass along two personal recommendations, please note that both are cash-only, so come prepared with a few fivers and some Charlie Darwins when you go:
1. Central London: A great place for authentic and cheap Japanese food. with generously sized portions - tempura, bento boxes, and sushi, as well as stuff like Chicken Katsu curry, etc.: Misato, 11 Wardour Street, London, W1D 6PG
The place is very popular, and there is almost always a queue, so expect to wait up to half an hour or more, and expect not to linger over dinner (as they get you in and out fairly quickly once you have a table). We try to get around this by turning up when they first open, at 5:30 pm.
2. Ealing: Sushi-Hiro, 1 Station Parade, Uxbridge Road, London, W5 3LD
This place is sushi only, and it's very fresh, with organic salmon (my favourite type of sushi) on the menu. Their crab rolls are made from generous portions of genuine crab, not crab stick fake crab, and the crab rolls are also laced with red caviar that pop so nicely in your mouth - yum! It's not as cheap as Misato, but it's still great value for money and is certainly the freshest, best tasting sushi I've had in London.
Happy eating, everyone!!
