what i made last night ROCKED from teh waitrose circular.  SO lovely and fallish

Chinese chicken with plum sauce
1 whole chicken (1.5 kg)
1 tbsp 5 spice powder
1 tbsp groundnut oil
12 plums, halved and seeded
150ml dry sherry
150ml veggie broth
1tbsp clear honey

Mix oil/5 spice and rub on the chicken.  Bung the chicken in the oven for 15mins.  Cut up 8 of the plums and after 15 mins toss that in the roasting tin with the sherry and broth.  Cook until it is half an hour from being done (took me 1.5 hours total so I took out at the hour mark)  throw in the rest of the plums

When done, take out chicken to rest, and put roasting tin on hob and cook on high heat, adding 1 tbsp of honey until it makes a sticky sauce

Serve with bok choy and egg noodles

ooo...I like Paula Deen. I have one of her books, and all but one of the recipes has turned out great.
