Microwaveable Heating Pads?

looking for something like a u-shaped airline pillow, filled with buckwheat/lavender/something, that you can nuke hot.

i've got really sore shoulders from being hunched at work, and i need something with some weight & heat to soothe it at night. 

tried the hot water bottle, but it doesn't "curve" the way i need it to.

i KNOW i've seen these before, but can't find online.

I've seen them in a National Trust shop, maybe they sell them online too.

I don't have a microwave, but have always wanted one of those things! I've seen really gorgeous velvet ones with lavender smelly stuff inside in several upmarket gift shops - anywhere that sells nice soaps, lotions, etc.

Another thing you can do is just fill a sock or cloth bag with rice.  That will work until you find something better. 

I just looked and there are quite a few on eBay!

karen- you're brillant!  can i nuke rice?  i'm def going to stich up two of these tonight.  perhaps put a bit a lavender in. 

just make sure the rice is uncooked   and yes you can nuke it.  I used that after a bout of whiplash and it worked great.  I would put  some liniment on my neck (tigerbalm and the like) then the heat, and it would work wonders.  The best part, is you can just pitch it when it gets dirty and make a new one.

We've made these for ages.  Best ones we did were little mini-versions to use as hand-warmers in coat pockets during really cold winters. 

You can also add lavender to it so it still smells nice.

I wish I had thought of that when I lived in Tahoe for a year! My hands were always frozen solid!
