Philly Wedding Ideas?
« on: October 29, 2006, 05:06:00 PM »
so my crazy cousin is getting married in philly and has asked that everyone ask far & wide for ideas.... thought i'd put this one out there and see if any philly-natives have any venue ideas...

her email to me: "I'm soliciting your help to try and find a venue in the Philadelphia area for a "Cocktail Wedding Party."   I'm trying to find a nice place that will comfortably fit our 200 guests, and give us the wiggle room that we need to throw this non-traditional wedding bash.  The party will be for 4 hours on a Saturday evening, and will consist of AMAZING hors d'oeuvres, yummy desserts, drinks, band, dancing, and hopefully me in a stunning pink cocktail dress :)

If any places immediately pop into your mind, or you have a friend that's a caterer in the Philly area, please throw the info my way.  Perhaps the place that your company threw it's holiday bash last year, etc.  I would also be interested in talking to wedding planners if you know of any."

thanks in advance.

Sorry,

I'm from Philly, but can't recall specific places for weddings.  I'm not sure where you cousin is from.  Here are a couple of website he/she could try.

Hope it helps!

Well if she'd like it outside (but doesn't sound like she does) I'd recommend the Fairmount Water Works. They also have an indoor restaurant but I don't know what it's like.

There's also the Ballroom at the Ben:

Knowlton Mansion:

Top of the Tower: http://www.topofthetower.com/

Richmond Hall: http://www.richmond-hall.com/wedding.html
(appears to be less pricey then the others)

Merion Tribute House: http://www.tributehouse.com/main.htm

Estia Resaurant: http://www.estiarestaurant.com/

I'm offering some maybe more unique locations rather than just the Radisson Hotel or something.

she's thinking reading market which sounds like a blast!!!

thanks for your suggestions- i'm passing them along and i'll see what she goes with!
