Nintendo wii
« on: October 31, 2006, 05:32:28 PM »
I was wondering if anyone might know...

I live in the U.S., and I'm going to spend Christmas in the U.K. with my boyfriend this year. He's getting the new Nintendo wii that's coming out in early December, and I wanted to get him a game for it. However, I wasn't sure if a game that I bought here in the U.S. would work on a system from the U.K., I've asked around and no one seems to know for sure. I could order a game from a U.K. site, but since its not getting released till around December 8th I think, I'd have to have it by the time that I leave on Dec. 19th or it wouldn't do me any good, and I'm worried that I might not receive it on time.

Well ... I'm not familiar with the new system you mention, but while on vacation in Texas over the summer we bought a Nintendo DS game for our daughter's UK - Nintendo DS, and it works perfectly. It does include American lingo etc., but it's not a problem. As far as ordering from a UK source; we use Amazon.co.uk and have never failed to be completely satisfied. Would a call to Nintendo or a visit to it's webby help?
Hope this might help!

Hiya

Try www.afterdawn.com they have forums about games consoles.

Also you could email Nintendo directly and see what they have to say !

Cheers!

I've asked my husband, he makes video games.  He can't remember reading anything about it.  He said he will try and find out though.

I like Dennis's idea of emailing Nintendo,  they should know :P

Thanks :) I had already checked the official website for the wii, but it didn't give any info about if it was multiregional or not. I'll check out that link though, thanks :)

Unfortunately, the Wii is not region free but to be honest Nintendo is the best to ask. None of the other consoles are that I have and that includes the most recent Gamecube. The GBA and DS are but they are handhelds. I have seen and played the Wii and don't think it is region free but as others mentioned there are plenty of sites that you can order the games in your region for roughly the same cost so it's not all that bad

thanks :)

My only concern with ordering from the U.K., is that the wii isn't released till around Dec. 8th, so it wouldn't ship until at least then, I'm sure. And I'm leaving on my trip on Dec. 19th, so I'd have to have received it by then, or else its no good to me  :-\\\\

10 days or so is more than enough time. Play.com, Game.net, amazon or gamestation are all really quick and ship and get it to you within a few days. They are reliable enough so you shouldn't have a problem
