Another Iced Tea tale
« on: November 08, 2006, 09:10:57 AM »
but with a happy ending!  DH and I were in London yesterday and went to Bodean's BBQ for lunch.  The drinks menu arrived but there wasn't iced tea on it, however, there was A&W Root Beer, which was a pleasant surprise.  Now sitting next to us, I believe, might have been the owner/manager and he had a large glass of iced tea with alot of ice and it really looked good (i had finished my rootbeer by that time) so the waitress came by and asked if we wanted any more drinks so of course I asked for iced tea.  Her reply??  "Oh, no, we don't do iced tea" so I had to settle for another rootbeer, but not long after that the barman came over and offered to make me iced tea....with ice!!  By then i didn't want it, but how nice of him to do that.  So I would highly recommend Bodean's for iced tea fixes.  It's on Poland Street, just off Oxford St. there's a deli section and restaurant area (below the deli), we were in the restaurant part, don't know if the deli would have done it.

Same thing happened to me at TGIFridays near Leicester Square/Picadilly Circus.  THe waitress said "We don't do ice tea"  I said to her "The TGI's  in Essex doesn't blink when we ask them for ice tea.  Just brew a regular a cup of tea and pour it over ice."  "Oh, that's it?" she asked.  "yep!"  And I got my ice tea!!!  :)

I've been known to go to the Texas Embassy (just off Trafalgar Square) even when I wasn't craving Mexican food, just because I KNOW they have iced tea on the menu.  They don't even blink when I tell them "don't bother with loads of refills, just bring me a pitcher!"   ;D
