Royal Bank of scotland didn't confirm bank account?

Went into the RBS and applied for a bank account.
I had my passport with my visa, had my work permit with my salary on it.
A bill with my name on it.
And they say it has to go to another department to be approved and I won't have an answer until Monday?

I asked the guy what was up and he said sometimes this happens there is nothing to be worried about then he said it is probably because the computer didn't like your address it didn't reconize it?

What when you look up my postal code on the council tax website my house comes up... what is the real deal here?

You probably have no credit and that's what is holding things up.  The Royal Bank of Scotland is especially bad with this (I have found anyway). 

I'm about to switch to HSBC, but my husband doesn't work in the city centre, so he wouldn't have access to a branch.

I am with Royal Bank of Scotland (not the same as Bank of Scotland), pretty much everything they do goes to a central processing place, that is probably the hold up.

We've had our ups and downs with them. They are no worse than any other bank, and probably better in some respects. We seem to get a new manager at our branch every few months though, not sure what that's all about.

Got an account approved it is the Interest paying account they said I get a cashline card is that just a atm /cash machine card?  I am assuming it probably isn't a masestro card

I use RBS and have had no problems with them.  In fact they were the only bank that was willing to really give me a bank account without massive issues at the time I started working.  I do not even bother going to the bank anymore I do everything online and/or over the phone.  I find it a pain to go into Canterbury City Centre.  Thought I have been called in so they can try and sell me some of their services and I will probably ignore it for now.

As banks go they are not bad.  Just remember they are a bank and their job is to make sure they maximise their profit so watch out what you sign up for and think through what your needs are.
