Need Meribel skiing advice
« on: November 25, 2006, 09:27:21 PM »
Howdy all.  The Mrs. and I have decided to take a ski trip to Meribel, France. The downside: the only week we can go is the absolute busiest week of the season: Feb. 10-17, aka HALF-TERM BREAK. All schools in the UK and France are on holiday.  It also looks like 90% of Europeans had the same idea months ago.  We've decided to bite the bullet and do it anyway but I'm having a heck of a time finding any reasonable accomodation. Everything I've found is either too far, too "hostel", or too overpriced for what you get.  As for transportation, I prefer to take the train, which is NOT cheap ($300 apiece return. Ouch).  The so-called low-cost airlines were even more expensive.
Anyone have any advice for salvaging this trip?
Some sites i've already tried:  Expedia, Opodo, Orbitz, Travelocity, Hotels.com, Meribel.net, ifyouski.com, thomascook.com, The Ski Club of Great Britain, etc, etc etc!!
