anybody know a cheap, clean b&b/hotel near heathrow?
« on: November 29, 2006, 12:48:53 PM »
DH & i are heading back to chicago on 12 december & thought it would be sensible to drive down to heathrow from birmingham the night before our flight, rather than getting up at stupid o'clock & rushing through morning traffic to the airport.

any ideas on decent places to stay for under £50?

you might have good luck on priceline?

Hiya,

Hotel Ibis is around £45 per night - i've stayed there a few times.

http://www.heathrowukhotels.co.uk/120224/

The hotel itself sits on one side of the A4 and the other side is a Runway! that how close you will be, so in the AM you won't have very far to go

there's quite alot of B&B type places, no idea of their costings - you may need to delve into search engines to find them etc ...

Hope this helps!

I stayed at the Holiday Inn near there once (the closer one, there are two).  Most of the hotels near Heathrow have a shuttle service to and from there.  In the morning it is like dead!  But beware, if you are headed to the Airport at a peak time, those couple of miles you have to go, in an airport shuttle, can be REALLY REALLY slow.

I've stayed at the Comfort Inn Heathrow before and used the shuttle service. They have free parking as well (which not all places do). It was clean, but I am not sure how much it will run you.

Are you planning on leaving your car at Heathrow? If so, you might want to look for a parking/hotel deal. I have not done this at Heathrow but did it at LAX once. Depending on how long you are going to be gone, it may work out cheaper than a room + parking fees.

I live in the area so if you find a place and need me to do a "drive by" and check it out, let me know. :)

We went to www.holidayextras.co.uk and was able to book a room at the nearby Holiday Inn with parking included for 39 pounds prior to leaving for Russia in October.  The shuttle runs to Heathrow and only takes about 10 minutes and costs 4 pounds per person per trip or round trip for 6 pounds.  It also had an early bird dinner special for about 10 pounds a person on the night we arrived, so all in all - it was a cheap way to leave on a trip all refreshed and everything taken care of....have a safe trip!
