Cambridge?
« on: July 08, 2006, 10:05:24 PM »
We have to go there for Courtneys genetics appointment at Addenbrookes hospital. We figured we'd take time and explore it a bit after her appointment. Anyone from around there or been there? Is there anything intresting to see there?

The town centre area (around the colleges) is lovely.  There are some nice walks around college grounds too.  If you are feeling adventurous, you could even go for a punt.

I'd love to.but are they safe to have a stroller in it? or is there a place I can safely store the stroller while we go on it while holding her?

Doubt you could take the stroller on the punts.  Not sure if they would have a place to store them.  Seems like they would considering the number of people that must visit with children.

wE were there a month ago.  There are places to store the strollers for punting.

It's nice just to walk around there.  It is a very cool place.

The main city centre is a great place to shop.  There are lots of shops to choose from.  We usually park at "Jesus" lot (easy to remember LOL) and it is a short walk to the centre - and colleges.

The question about the stroller on the punt....we had a private punter take us down the Cam this summer and he put my mom's electric mobility scooter on it and 4 of us as well.  So maybe if you ask really nice, they can do it for you too.  Also bargain with the students to get the best price.
After you get done wandering through Cambridge, you can finish your day with a meal at Chili's.  It's located outside the big mall - just ask directions.

Hey, I work in that mall!!  Heh!  I know that most of the buses go out to the hospital, not sure how you were planning on getting there.

Well, if you park at Lion's Yard there is are about 1 million bus stops right outside that go to the hospital.  I have no idea which is cheaper, but I suppose that you would drive to the hospital and then drive into town, so never mind.  It has been a long day at work.

BTW If you do come into the Grafton Centre, you might notice that the horrible, horrible, Merlin anamatronic christmas (I know it makes no sense, Merlin, sheesh) display has been BEHEADED.  Totally awesome, punk rock thing to do as the music was driving everyone insane!!
