Can I use black treacle instead of molasses in gingerbread?

Treacle is the British molasses, so... yes!

Yes, I've used black treacle in my gingerbread and it turned out fine.  However, I have bought blackstrap molasses (organic no less!) at Tesco. 
I found it in the section with the gluten free/organic/whole foods.

I find that black treacle makes my gingerbread too bitter. I do half golden syrup and half treacle, turns out perfect.

I use all golden syrup, allspice, ginger, and cinnamon.  Turns out perfect each time.

Is carob molasses same as regular? I bought some the other day, I like to have molasses in my cupboard, but don't know if they are the same.
