Dual US/UK citizenship tax
« on: January 14, 2007, 08:36:02 AM »
Upon becoming a British naturalised subject, and my children as well (in two years time), will my children have to pay UK taxes for life, no matter where they live?  Or is the US the only one (in this case) who taxes based on residence and citizenship, no matter if one lives on US soil?

Thanks!

The United States will require you to file for ever, including estate tax returns on death of you and (hopefully not for many dozens of decades) your children.

The United Kingdom only taxes UK RESIDENTS on worldwide income and then only if they are domiciled here.

The United Kingdom also taxes United Kingdom domiciliaries on worldwide estate at death, but if none of the family are domiciled here and have no UK assets at death then there will be no UK inheritance tax on death.
