Learning the UK banking and money system can be a bit daunting but this guy's site is very good for comparisons, tips and loopholes etc.

I recently did the following:

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,

and my bank actually paid me back!! Due to sheer stupidity and income reduction during my maternity leave, I had a fair bit of overdraft penalties and they have all been refunded!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Hiya

Moneysavingexpert.com is an excellent site! chock full of great advice in helping get the best deals.

Highly recommend this site, the layout is a little 'too busy' but the value of information is it's real strength, plus Martin Lewis is a reputable journalist !

Go there and see what deals you can find!

Alvin who?!!

Haven't heard of him, but I'll look him up soon..

I try to incorporate money saving tips with the discipline of looking after your finances using Personal finance software (Quicken - As I used to work for Intuit). It's been a long time coming, but in the near future I'll have a revamped website and I'll let UKY'ers know about it !

Cheers! DtM! West London & Slough UK!

We're reading that site at least once a day!  MIL got us into Martin Lewis and Alex has been using his budget calculator for a few months now.
