'Dr' Gillian McKeith = bad science
« on: February 12, 2007, 03:57:16 PM »
I used to enjoy watching her to some degree - figuring her basic advice was pretty good - but I've found her increasingly offensive over the last 2 years. This just finalizes the deal for me.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I saw that article in the paper last week. I haven't really seen much of her show, but she does seem pretty irritating.

Reading about her 'scientific' evidence in her 'dissertation' was a pretty good laugh, however.

There was a great article in the Guardian about it today... the author apparently was able to register his dead cat for the same doctorate certificate.  :)

I watched her show a couple times, but then DH pointed out how full of crap she is.  ;)

I think what disturbs me most is how horrid she looks! She's far too thin and just looks drawn and unhealthy. I sort of appreciated the show when it first started but the more I watch the more I think she's full of crap.

I like watching the other show (forget the title) with the two female doctors (actual MD's!) who explain it all in very practical terms, without all the drama.
Probably less exciting television, but more information.

Are you talking about The Truth About Food?  I really like that show.  They do real experiments to dis/prove the urban legends and homeopathic theories about certain foods.  Sciene!  Cool! :D

No, I think she means a show on Channel 5. But The Truth About Food has been very interesting, too!

She might mean diet doctors

gillian looks like kermit the frog body shape wise. She has extremely long arms and a short short short torso!

I thought everyone already knew she was a new-age macrobiotic type. Her basic message of eating more fresh fruit and vegetables is a good one, but the more you listen to her the worse it gets. She's a troll. She can't help her body shape though--it's from scoliosis.
