oven only recipes
« on: February 04, 2007, 09:54:40 AM »
my hob literally blew up on friday, the new one gets installed tuesday. So until then we only have the oven to cook in. Anybody have any good recipes that don't require using a hob at all?

Yikes! What a disaster!
Well Im not known for my recipes or my cooking skills but I do know whats easy.
You can buy chili con carne sauce and mix it with raw mince and stick it in the oven. I cant remember the brand name I used. Anyway it was pretty nice!
Do you have a slow cooker? Can do loads in there.

Oh no!
What about a simple roast chicken. I like to stuff mine with lemons and onions and squeeze lemon juice over. You can roast potatoes to go along and steam veg in the microwave, or make couscous using boiling water from the kettle.

scalloped potatoes (layer slices of raw potato & red onion, dot each layer with butter & plain flour), pour milk over, cover with foil, bung in hot oven for 45 mins, take foil off for last 10 mins so top crisps up; sometimes i  also put a little grated cheese between the layers)

fish pie (or any kind of pie!)

cake!

do you have a grill? or microwave?
